June lust list

June Lust List

Wow, there sure is a lot of pink going on here isn't there? I promise I didn't plan it that way, it just happened like that. But so what? I love pink. I remember when I was scared to admit that during my childhood days for fear it would seem too girly. Now I am an adult and can like whatever colour I want without fear of being disowned in the sand pit. Oh, the wisdom that comes with age.

Anyhow, it's starting to get rather cold around these parts and I feel myself with a very sparse wardrobe in terms of warm gear. It's time to stock up on jumpers, boots and coats and embrace winter! Plus I am currently a little ill so keeping snug is paramount right now. Here's what I'm digging in June:
  1. asos pants - I feel like I'd be at least 100% cooler if I owned these hot pink pants.
  2. asos earrings - I tend to go through jewellery phases and right now it's all about big ear bling paired with a ballerina bun.
  3. Frends headphones - so they are a little pricey, but how awesome are these blingin' headphones? A stylish way to listen to The Spice Girls I say.
  4. Portmans coat - ever since spying this coat on Instagram I was smitten. That feeling intensified when I tried it on recently, damn waiting for payday!
  5. Topshop jumper - this knit sure looks like it would keep a gal toasty on wintery nights.
  6. Witchery boots - yes, I am a magpie attracted to all kinds of bright, shiny things. Which is why I must own these almost rose gold Chelsea boots.
  7. Urban Outfitters pendant light - still decorating the home which means an excuse to browse the 'apartment' section of UO all I like.
  8. Topshop duffle - the Aztec print of this bag is fab, and may actually convince me to go to the gym if I could stow my stuff in such a snazzy sack.

Them bones

I would put the feeling of snagging a great bargain up there along with making perfect macarons or domesticating dragons. Really, there's no better feeling. So imagine my excitement when, upon walking into Diva yesterday, I was confronted by these bizarre bone creations. I love how the design makes them look like they are going straight through the ear, without the commitment of actually stretching the earlobes. Genius!

There was no price on the back so I took them up to the counter to enquire, only to be told by a surprised sales attendant that they were in fact $1. Yep you heard me right, no I didn't miss any numbers out. $1. I grabbed an extra pair for my sister Lucy and I was on my way. It was fun presenting them to her today and us both walking around Subiaco showing off our new ear bling. Here's to bargains!

Shoe crush: Windsor Smith Funk

Whoever said you can't wear sandals in winter is clearly crazy, because I believe they can look awesome with the right styling no matter the weather. Retailers seem to agree too, with a number of the big Aussie shoe brands continuing their sandal lines all through the year.

Take this Windsor Smith "Funk" number for example. They have a bit more of an edge than traditional summer styles, and I could see them looking rad with ankle-grazing blue jeans, a crisp button up shirt and khaki anorak in the colder months.

In other news, we all know I love a good pair of jellys (jellies? I've seen it spelled every which way) so I was excited to see that Windsor Smith is also set to release their own line of the plasticky suckers. Proof that these shoes have legitimately jumped from our 90s childhoods and into the present day for good. Buy them in every colour and wear with pride!

May Lust List

May Lust List

The transition to winter has officially begun and I must admit, I find myself ill prepared for the cold weather. Take this month's Lust List for example - where are the sweaters, the coats, the woollen mittens? Why am I still trying to wear jellies when it's cold out? These are the prevailing mysteries of my life, and probably the answer to why I always have goosebumps. May, I might fail you in terms of dressing appropriately, but I think I make up for that in these awesome internet finds:
  1. Topshop collar - there is never a bad time to buy more neck candy, and I think this one has just the right amount of bling to spruce up boring outfits.
  2. Country Road shirt - the combination of peplum, polka dots and gold foil makes this one a winner for both the office and after hours.
  3. Sol Sana boots - I'm currently on the hunt for that perfect pair of ankle boots for the cooler seasons and I like the attitude of these ones.
  4. asos clutch - if it's Mexican inspired, it's ok in my book. This clutch is fun, carefree and has pom poms. Enough said.
  5. Topshop dress - we have established already that leopard print is a basic now, but the injection of neon in this dress takes animalia to a whole new level.
  6. Jelly Beans jellies - jellies have to be among the comfiest shoes ever, and I love the 90s vibe of them. I have the silver glitter but need the clear pink too, obviously.
  7. Jonathan Alder pillow - every bed/couch/hammock needs a statement pillow, right? This one just happens to be ones of the coolest I've ever seen.
  8. Gorman jeans - adore the colour and print of these jeans and imagine they would look great while, you know, baking carrot cake, riding a camel or giving a nanotechnology lecture even.

April lust list

April lust list

Taking a momentary break from my last few wedding posts because it's the first of the month and time for a new lust list folks.

How is it April already? This year is speeding on by, that's for sure. This month I am craving T-shirt-style shift dresses paired with some new kicks and maybe another pair of signature sunglasses just for fun. My style is definitely evolving since I came to Sydney, with less pretty A-line dresses and a more streamlined shape taking over. I like it! Also, while we have almost kitted out our new house to a tee, there are still those certain items I am lusting over. Here's what I'm coveting this month:
  1. Princess Polly dress - hot pink seems to be the colour I am gravitating to right now, and I'd love to have this dress as a basic to style up in a number of ways.
  2. Country Road trivet - never thought I'd lust over one of those things you put pots on but this one is just so dreamy. Loving Swiss crosses right now, I want them on everything.
  3. Mint Converse - my white chucks get a lot of wear so it would be really cool to mix it up with some of the slightly more feminine, mint green persuasion.
  4. Karen Walker sunglasses - never thought I'd need another pair of sunglasses (I am very loyal to my KW number ones) but the moment I saw these by chance it was true love.
  5. Beci Orpin dreamcatcher - the dreamcatcher trend was never one I jumped on but I really love this quirky colourful one from Urban Outfitters. It would fit right in my lounge room.
  6. Betts boots - these are pretty much the exact same shoe as my worn-to-death Topshop pair, but while they are on sale it could be a good idea to stockpile for the future? I am known to do that with clothes.
  7. Forever New dress - I have so much leopard print, but strangely enough don't have it in a dress. This must be rectified, stat.
  8. Falcon pie dishes - a very geeky want, but these pie dishes are just so retro-cool. I could imagine dishing up Ottolenghi creations for friends in these.

March Lust List

March Lust List 2

With all the travelling that was going on last month, I never got round to doing my February lust list but here we are, in March already! Boy oh boy how this year is speeding by. The items currently on my wish list have taken on more of a home rather than a fashion flavour as we set up our new house in Sydney. Furniture, decor and DIYs have been consuming me for the past week, but it is oh so fun. Here's what's on my radar for March:
  1. Byredo Gypsy Water - this is such an intriguing scent and I can't help but spray it on every time I pass a Mecca store. The exxy price tag means it will require some saving up for.
  2. Freedom cushion - with my dream couch now sitting in our lounge, all I need is some bright pillows to spruce things up.
  3. Melissa flats - I always love the designs Vivienne Westwood brings out for Melissa but these take the cake as being right up my alley.
  4. Something Else tee - a black sequinned cactus on a T-shirt? Could there be anything cooler?
  5. Hunt No More leggings - my pants phase is sticking and I am ready to try some more out there styles, especially if there are more sequins involved.
  6. Kate Spade watch - don't get me wrong - I absolutely adore my staple MK rose gold watch but I feel I need something a bit more versatile too in the time-measuring department.
  7. Freedom vases - I only have one vase at the moment. Need more. Enough said.
  8. Freedom rug - while a little out of my price range, this is my ideal rug. And who said a girl can't dream?

What I wore: farewell Fremantle

dress: General Pants / shoes: Melissa / sunglasses: Karen Walker 'Number One' / watch: Michael Kors rose gold / bag: eBay

So here we are, in what is our last week in Perth before we jet off on honeymoon and then settle in for our new life in Sydney. We have been spending our final days catching up with friends and revisiting favourite spots that we are certain to miss. Today we said goodbye to our favourite haunt of Fremantle, which holds even more meaning for Marc and I now that we have the memory of being married there.

Here's what I wore for a warm sunny day of visiting cafes, stores and maybe buying three dresses from one shop. Oops. Tomorrow I'll be sharing a mini photo diary from the day.

Friday

Francesca

Let's just stop for a moment and marvel over how lovely the new ASOS Francesca sandals are, shall we? They are basically my dream summer shoe. And even though we are now more than halfway through summer here in Australia, I am pretty sure I could get wear out of these all year round. I could imagine them looking just as great with skinny jeans and a sweater as I could with a floral frock.

The only difficulty is deciding which colour to get... I am leaning towards the lilac right now. Which would you go for?

Thursday

January lust list

Another month, another list of things I just have to have! Recently I have found my style to be undergoing a major shift. My wardrobe full of pretty vintage dresses doesn't appeal to me as much, and I find myself craving modern styles, textured prints and, shock horror, pants. Coming from the girl who didn't own a pair until last year, this is really saying something! Here's what's on my radar for January:
  1. La Parisienne agenda. I still can't decide if I want a diary this year but if I do wind up getting one, it will be the same as I had last year.
  2. Equipment blouse. I've been dreaming of owning one of these forever and may well crack soon.
  3. MAC perfectly plush brush set. This was actually bought by us as a Christmas gift for my sister but I want one too!
  4. Oroton glomesh wallet. Love this wallet and LOVE that it's on sale. May have already bought this one.
  5. Topshop flash sandal. Sandals have been my sole shoe of choice this summer, it's just a pity I can't get away with them for work.
  6. Topshop floral swimsuit. In preparation for the upcoming Mauritius trip, need I say more?
  7. Sass and Bide explosion skirt. I'm currently undergoing a Sass and Bide addiction and this is next on the list.
